1920s Berlin project celebrates its 15th anniversary!

It’s been fifteen years since our 1920s Berlin Project opened its doors to the public and that has to be celebrated!
Not many sims in SL manage to survive this long, especially not rather niche roleplaying communities like ours.

As is tradition, we’re having a week of events to celebrate our birthday and it’s going to be the bee’s knees.

Our anniversary schedule;

  • Thursday 30th May
    2pm:
Anniversary dance under the stars on Pariser Platz with kapellmeister Myron Byron and hostess Jo Yardley, followed by fireworks.
  • Friday 31st May
    2pm:
Diner & Dance at the Hotel Adlon, dress to impress.
  • Saturday 1st June
    2pm:
    Eldorado Anniversary Special
With kapellmeister Myron Byron & a show by Dorothy Vallens
  • Sunday 2nd June
    2pm:
     Opening Biergarten for the season.
After months in that dark, dingy basement bar, the evenings are finally warm enough for us to go outside into the Biergarten again!
  • Monday 3rd June
    2pm:
    Tour of Berlin bicycle race
    1st position wins 5000L$
    2nd position wins 2500L$
    3rd position wins 1000L$
3pm: Dinner exclusively for supporters and long term tenants at Restaurant Kranzler
  • Tuesday 4th June
    2pm:
    Wannsee beach party
We meet at the Brandenburg Gate, then slowly walk to the Wannsee beach where we will dance, drink and chat by the water.
    Bring a swimsuit!
  • Wednesday 5th June
    2pm: Relaxed Rules day!
After the official count-down at Pariser Platz we suspend our 1920s dress code for 24 hours and everyone in SL is welcome to visit our sim as they are, in modern clothes, as a non-human avatar, in whatever look they want, as long as they’re not naked, a Nazi or a naked Nazi.
A great excuse for the regulars to bring some of their non-Berliner friends to the sim and show them around.
Some locals will also leave their front door open, allowing visitors to see how we live.
  • Thursday 6th June
    Noon: Beach Blanket Berlin
End of Relaxed Rules Day with a any era themed party at the beach in Tiergarten park with DJ Holocluck Henly.

The entire week we are also having an open house policy and tours of the sim.
Look for the signs and open front doors throughout the city, they’ll let you know which home you can go explore!

The schedule may change and events may be cancelled, altered or added to this list.
Keep an eye on posts in our Facebook group or inworld group for the latest news.

  1. In the early 1980s there was a clique of wealthy kids in Austin, Texas, who organized “Weimar parties” with period attire and whatnot. Here’s hoping your Project endures, and that the era becomes more widely understood.
